ZigBee is the only standards-based technology that addresses the unique needs of most remote monitoring, control and sensory network applications. ZigBee leverages the IEEE 802.15.4 standard that specifies the physical layer (PHY) and medium access control (MAC) layers of the protocol. It defines operation using 16 channels in the 2.4 GHz band, and the media access control mechanism that prevents data “collisions” between multiple transmissions.
Electrochem products enable our customer's success through the use of ZigBee for several reasons. ZigBee is specifically designed for low-rate, low-power applications. Power savings is achieved by way of careful energy management throughout the measurement process. Wireless sensors spend most of their time asleep, waking up only when they need to measure and communicate, and then going immediately back to sleep. Additionally, ZigBee technology extends transmission range and reliability using multi-hop mesh networking. If a sensor or base station is unable to communicate as indented, transmission is dynamically re-routed using an alternate path to the destination.
ZigBee Alliance
 |
The ZigBee Alliance is a group of companies that contribute and commit to the Zigbee technology platform.
Members gain early access to ZigBee Alliance design information, development details and interoperability specifications; they have the opportunity to interact with other individuals whose complementary skills and capabilities may enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of their own products. Members also benefit from networking with other market leaders committed to providing interoperable wireless products and networks.
Electrochem's customers can know that as a member of the Alliance, we will continue to be on the cutting edge with the latest ZigBee technologies and specifications, ensuring our wireless sensor solutions are designed to meet the unique needs of our industrial application customers. |
